The SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO appliance is a revolutionary range of desktop and rack-mountable high-performance LTO appliances with Ethernet connectivity designed for Ethernet-based and Hyper-converged environments including media & entertainment, business, enterprises, and datacentres. The SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO appliances builds on the existing SymplyPRO LTO family, empowering organizations with secure, shared access to LTO tape drives over a 10Gb Ethernet network.
All SymplyPRO Ethernet configurations feature Linear Tape File System (LTFS) support. Allowing simple drag-and-drop file operation similar to a conventional hard drive. LTFS can reduce the need for backup or archive software and allows organisations to easily protect and interchange data using LTO cartridges.
At the core of these appliances lies a potent ARM processor, enabling lightning-fast command processing and data traversal on distinct pathways. This results in maximum block transfer sizes to the LTO drives across the Ethernet network, while integrated data acceleration technology ensures optimal performance without straining host system compute resources. Resultantly the SymplyPRO Ethernet appliances provide a remarkable 20% performance increase over conventional SAS-connected LTO drives.
Elevating Data Protection with Network Efficiency
The SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO appliances mark a significant leap forward in data protection operations. By seamlessly integrating into existing networks, these appliances eliminate the need for dedicated and costly servers. The result is enhanced data protection tasks distributed across your network, providing readily available high-speed access to the renowned Linear Tape-Open (LTO) technology, currently in its 9th generation (LTO-9). With dedicated Dual 10Gb Ethernet network connectivity, client systems can achieve aggregated performance of up to 2,000MB/sec when reading from or writing to the LTO appliances.
Unparalleled Configuration Flexibility
SymplyPRO Ethernet appliances are available with half-height LTO-7, LTO-8 and LTO-9 drives in single and dual-drive desktop and 1RU configurations, with 2RU rackmount configurations featuring LTO-9 full-height LTO drives offering native performance up to 400MB/sec per drive and higher endurance.
Dual 10Gb Ethernet SFP+ interfaces offer flexibility in network connectivity. The appliance can support either an additional two LTO drives via a SymplyPRO SAS LTO making a total of four LTOs, or the appliance can be connected to a LTO tape library installed with one or two LTO drives, providing maximum flexibility.
Symply CableLess™ Technology
All the SymplyPRO Ethernet LTO appliance benefit from Symply CableLess™ technology – a unique design that allows for the easy removal of LTO drives, making them highly serviceable and easy to upgradeable. Customers can start with one LTO in your desktop or rackmount system and add an additional drive in under a minute, without even having to power the system off. Likewise for servicing, in the unlikely event of a drive failure, the failed drive can be removed without the need to power off the whole system. Only the failed drive needs to be returned for repair. Simple.
