Symply, a leader in media-centric storage solutions, has announced the launch of a 160TB edition of its headline Thunderbolt 3 Shuttle RAID: SymplySPARK.
Launched in 2021 as part of the new SymplyFIRST portfolio, SymplySPARK was originally offered in capacities up to 144TB. Now, with the availability of enterprise class 20TB HDDs, Symply has leveraged the new technology to upgrade their flagship RAID platform’s capacity to 160TB.
“As file sizes continue to increase and even more data is created daily, content creators and production companies risk getting left behind in their storage infrastructure,” comments Keith Warburton, CEO of Symply. “It’s important to keep evolving product lines to provide solutions to the capacity challenges faced on location and in the studio.”
SymplySPARK utilizes enterprise-grade HDDs to provide fast, reliable, high-capacity storage at a fraction of the cost of SSDs. This shuttle RAID boasts speeds of up to 1,800MB/s at RAID 5 in benchmarking tests – fast enough for demanding 4K and 8K+ workloads or even visual effects.
Production houses will be pleased with the quiet cooling (less than 45 dB) and ”lights out mode” to offer a distraction-free editing environment. SPARK’s field serviceability is also a boon, enabling users to swap out drives, the fan, and power supply units without needing to send their device back to base.
Thanks to Symply’s supply chain commitment there promises to be fewer supply chain issues for businesses looking to upgrade or migrate their portable RAID storage. And with an all-metal construction the products are environmentally friendly too.
SymplySPARK 160TB is available immediately.
